Our room was superb. From our room we had a view of the port. The in room hot spring bath was a real winner!! As it was our first time, was easier for my kids to have our family privacy than in the public bath. The stone sauna that they have is a gem! If only I found it earlier! Being in there really helped my tired muscles from all the walking. Room was spacious and we got to have both the western beds as well as the tatami mattresses to experience both. Family agreed that the tatami mats was very comfortable and we got the best night sleep on those. The Japanese dinner and breakfast was delicious and pretty as a picture. Was definitely a treat. Staff were extremely helpful and assisted even with giving advice for other tourist attractions and travel. Would definitely go again

This is a destination ryokan. Wonderful, sincere, kind and well-trained staff. The onsen in the suite is huge and wondrous (at 6'1", I could stretch myself out completely, albeit diagonally). Navigating the stairs are a bit of a challenge if you do not travel as light as the Japanese. The suite is enormous but there is a large tatami room for two adults to sleep w/ futon that is useless if you travel as a couple. However, the highlight are the meals. You absolutely must purchase the breakfast and dinner! It is fabulous!!! Reservations are required because you are served in your own "room" (just you and your party). The food is fantastic in every sense of the word. They try to include farm-to-table as well (the local small farmed rice was the absolute bomb).

amazing hotel with exellent service. we had a big suite with a private onsen and traditional living area with tatami floors. soaking in the onsen with a view of the city was the ideal way to unwind after a long train ride from tokyo. breakfast was amazing, serves in a private booth and consisted of a lot top quality local products. staff was very friendly and helpful. the hotel was very modern with beautiful classical elements.

Good location with tram station nearby. Nicely presented breakfast and dinner, with a private room for the five of us and dedicated staff to serve us. We didn’t expect to have one massage included in our package. We enjoyed the massage. The Onsen in the room was comfortable.

Doris

Luxurious Brutalist modernist ryokan, Michelin 3 pagoda distinction holder (the Japanese ryokan version of 3 stars), lived up to its reputation, stellar service, private dining, fabulous food, oceanic urban view from the bath and so luxurious—photos cannot convey!
